Events, Conferences & Success Stories
Sandy Kotson, Head Cook John Marshall High School, was the first place winner of the WVDE Office of Child Nutrition's Cook-Off contest held at Stonewall Resort on March 23rd. Ms. Kotson submitted her roasted vegetable medally recipe that consisted of butternut squash, sweet and red potatoes, squash, onions and several spices. Ms. Kotson prepared her dish on-site among other school cooks across the state whose recipes also made it to the final "Cook-Off", Ms. Kotson was presented a plaque by the WVDE Office of Child Nutrition and $500.00 in cash.
Judy Rhodes (center) and Mona Sommerville (right) from Elkins Middle School were selected as the first place winners, among 9 entries, in the “Wheat Roll” Category of the WVDE Cooking Challenge. Linda St. Clair (left) representing the West Virginia Department of Education presented Rhodes, a Cook and Sommerville, Cafeteria Manager their plaque and cash award of $500.00
